SOCIAL LEARNING GROUPS

  for children and youth aged 5-18!








Information & Registration

Please call or email us to initiate the registration process.  We are scheduling individual family registration meetings as needed.  This is a 1 hour opportunity for you to meet and discuss the strengths and goals for your child/youth, ask additional questions about our programs and gives your child and our staff the benefit of meeting in person and getting better aquainted ahead of time.

Social Explorers (5-6 yrs)
Come and explore Social Thinking (winner, 2002) in this 2 week camp! In the first week, we will become social detectives looking for social clues to solve social mysteries while developing new ways of seeing and thinking about our social world. In the second week, we will become superflexible superheroes using newly acquired thinking process' to defeat a team of "social challengers". Emotional awareness and growth plays a key role in social learning and will be explored each session. Daily activities will include stories, role plays, games and crafts, which build on and explore social thinking! Parents are important players! At the end of each day there will be 15mins of parent-time to review new language and concepts.and progress.There will also be a daily take-home activity so you can join in the fun!  This is a play-based, therapeutic learning program. Continue this fall for further social play and development

Social Adventurers (7-9yrs)
Stretch your social awareness and understanding with Social Thinking (Winner, 2002) in this 2 week camp! In the first week, we will become detectives in our own social world,  looking for clues to solve social puzzles. In the second week, we will become superflexible superthinkers who will use newly acquired social thinking process' and related skills to defeat a team of "social challengers". Daily activities will include direct teaching, role plays, games and crafts which explore and build social competency.  Emotional awareness and development is key to social learning and will be addressed daily. Parents are important role models and supporters! At the end of each day there will be 15mins.of parent-time to review new language,concepts and progress. There will also be daily take-home information so that you can practice and implement new language and strategies in other environments. This is a fun, therapeutic program.  Continue this fall for further social development

Social Wonderers (10-12 yrs)
This group is a practical, hands-on, approach to learning some of the pre- teen basics about the social world and the social mind! With direct teaching, role plays, activities and video feedback, you will learn skills, tips, and tricks for school and other social places! Emotional awareness and intelligence is an integral focus to social learning and will be incorporated daily.Parents are not left out and are an important part of new thinking and skill acquisition! At the end of each day there will be 15mins. of parent-time to review new language, concepts and progress. There will also be daily take-home information so you can assist in the practice and process' in other environments

Social Survivor (13-15yrs)
This is an introduction to Social Thinking and how social groups work. You will learn about "hanging-out", dealing with emotions, and how to create the relationships you want. This group will help get you a little more comfortable navigating your social world and leanring the unwritten rules of life. A creative mix of direct teaching, role plays and other group/individual activities that promote social understanding and growth. We may have the opportunity to embark on some community outings for practice. Parents are an important part of the picture of success! At the end of each day there will be 15mins. of parent-time to review introduced language and concepts and hear about progress.  There will also be daily take-home activities so you can encourage new thinking and skill building

Social Mastermind (16-18yrs)
Join us for a fun introduction to Social Thinking and how social groups work. You will learn about "hanging-out", dealing with emotions, and how to create the relationships you want. This group will help get you a little more comfortable navigating your social world and learning about the unwritten rules of life.  The members of the group are encouraged to be active thinkers and decision makers about how the program proceeds so it best meets their needs. Community outings for practice will be incorporated. Parents are still an important part of social growth leading towards increased independence! At the end of each day there will be 15mins. of parent-time to review new language and concepts. There will also be a daily take-home activity for you to support your young adult as they embark on new methods of navigating their world

Social Investigator 1 Non-ASD Diagnosis (6-9yrs)
Come and explore Social Thinking (winner, 2002) in this 1 week camp! In the first week, we will become social detectives looking for social clues to solve social mysteries. In the second week, we will become superflexible superheros who will use their social skills to defeat a team of social challengers. Daily activities will include stories, role plays, games and crafts, which build on and explore social thinking! Parents are not left out! At the end of each day there will be 15mins. of parent-time to review new language and concepts. There will also be a daily take-home activity so you can join in the fun! This group is specifically for children not on the Autism Spectrum. Curriculum will will be still be based on social thinking, but will incorporate more focus on impulse control and self-regulation.as it relates to social growth, as well as learning more about ADD/HD and how to use your special "powers" to help you along the way !

Social Investigator 2 Non-ASD Diagnosis (10-13 yrs)
This 1 week group is a practical, hands-on, approach to learning some of the early teen basics about the social world and the social mind! With role plays, activities and video feedback, you will learn skills, tips, and tricks for school and other social places! Parents are not left out! At the end of each day there will be 15mins. of parent-time to review new language and concepts. There will also be a daily take-home activity so you can joint in the fun!  This group is specifically for youth not on the Autism Spectrum. Curriculum will will be still be based on social thinking, but will incorporate more focus on impulse control and self-regulation.as it relates to social growth, as well as learning more about ADD/HD and how to use your special "powers" to help you along the way !!
